RUSH S&A tour was AWSOME!!! (2008-08-01)

Billion tanks RUSH for this new live album. The sound, the performance and the setlist is perfect. Just for the version of Secret Touch... Can you imagine pay just $11.99 for this excellent product who can give many years of pleasure? Nothing is perfect in this Universe? I can't wait for the DVD.. Long live to RUSH. Wish a new studio album soon and another awsome tour....

Masterful performances (2008-05-01)

Overall, I would call this a nice souvenir of the 'Snakes & Arrows' tour. It is not, by far, their best sounding live album (that distinction belongs to 'Different Stages'); however, the performances are for the most part good to excellent with newer material sounding better and more intense than older material.All the S&A songs sound great, except for "The Main Monkey Business" which is a bit flat, almost like they couldn't hear each other properly. The highlights are "Spindrift" and "The Way the Wind Blows", both sounding absolutely fantastic. The way they arrange and mix "Spindrift", you'd swear it came from 'Permanent Waves', not S&A.Of the older tracks, "Digital Man" gets a nice update and a groove that they did not manage to capture in the studio version back in '82. "Mission" always sounds good, and was a definite tour highlight! The aggression they bring to "Distant Early Warning" makes it much darker, and they finally manage to rid the song of the "clattery" feel of earlier live recordings. "Witch Hunt" fits right in with the S&A material. They give the old song a face lift by giving it the S&A edge.I really have only two complaints about the album. First, because it was recorded at the end of a long tour, Geddy's voice is not in the prime form that it was in when I saw them in Quebec City more than a month before this recording was made. It's a pity they didn't make this recording much earlier in the tour.Secondly, in order to squeeze 27 songs onto two discs, they cut out ALL the space between songs. There is no banter with the audience, no song intros, no breaks between the songs.

RUSH...get live right on!!! (2008-04-16)

I believe that , SNAKES & ARROWS : LIVE , is their best sounding live album ever. Even better sounding than , DIFFERENT STAGES and the , R30th Live , CDs.NO reunion concerts for , RUSH!!! They had the guts to play 9 of their new songs live on this tour. All quality songs. How many other bands can claim all of that after 30+ years together?It was NOT mastered too loud and there are NO compression issues. There is also a lot LESS vocal over-dubbing in all of the songs.Most of these live songs are NOT just carbon copies of their studio counterparts. There are subtle music changes to many of these songs. The song , DIGITAL MAN , has a new and improved arrangement , as just one example.Songs like , LIMELIGHT [with it's extended opening note] , YYZED , ONE LITTLE VICTORY , WITCH HUNT , MISSION , BETWEEN THE WHEELS , SECRET TOUCH , A PASSAGE TO BANGKOK , NATURAL SCIENCE , DREAM LINE , ect , all have had a new life played into them.There are 12 songs that have never been on any live , RUSH , album. 9 of the NEW songs are from the fantastic , SNAKES & ARROWS , album.The , SNAKES & ARROWS , live songs are divided nicely on the 2 discs.5 of the songs are on disc , # 1 and 4 of those songs are on disc , # 2.It is nice to finally have live recordings of the songs , CIRCUMSTANCES , ENTRE NOUS and DIGITAL MAN , now.All of the instruments / vocals are in perfect balance with each other.There is some fan cheering but NOT nearly as loud as it was on , RUSH IN RIO.GEDDY's voice , is lower than usual because of his age but he sings great. His voice is not lost in the mix. GEDDY , does talk to the audience at times and he even says a couple of words in , DUTCH.GEDDY's bass , sounds terrific.ALEXs guitar's , are crystal clear. NEIL , performs a NEWLY WRITTEN and awesome drum solo for this tour. The drum recording rocks.Even the keyboards are ALL clear as a bell. Recorded over 2 nights in , HOLLAND , they finally seem to have gotten their live sound recording and their live performance perfected. This live album seems to have a WARMTH to it's sound that other live albums seem to lack.Many bands that have been around as long as , RUSH , have been have released many live and greatest hit albums. This is nothing new in rock. Many bands like , THE STONES , AEROSMITH , YES , ELP , OZZY , KING CRIMSON , ect...have released many live and greatest hit albums.If you saw the , SNAKES & ARROWS 2007 Concert and / or love the SNAKES & ARROWS album , you will just love these 2 live CDs. The other fantastic news is that their , SNAKES & ARROWS : LIVE DVD , will be released in the fall of 2008 according to LEE in a recent , 2008 tour interview. I never thought that , RUSH , would record a better sounding live albums , than the , DIFFERENT STAGES and R30th ANNIVERSARY Live , CDs. They have done just that.This is a must have for the extra power / improved , SNAKES & ARROWS , songs live and for ALL of the other , RUSH , favourites that have never sounded so excellent and fresh , live. SNAKES & ARROWS : LIVE , is a real treat for new and long time fans!!!
