Not HYSTERIA, but NOT BAD either (2008-07-03)

Well, they finally got it right. The ability to write good songs on their own without Mutt Lange's help that is. Like the description above says, these songs sound like they belong on 1987s HYSTERIA, but rock like they belong on HIGH N' DRY. The Leps came close to pulling something like this off on 1999s EUPHORIA, but now that they've got a few albums under their belt since then, they've learned how to balance the heavy rock chops with the Adult Contemporary tendencies they displayed on 2002s X. I think it was good for them to do the YEAH album a couple of years back to show themselves how you can be tuneful, slightly raw & yet still SEEM polished. This is a good, solid rock n' roll album with some truly killer Leppard classics to be on it. I didn't give it 5 stars because it isn't quite as instantly memorable as some of their previous classics, but then how many bands ever do more than one or two truly classic albums? It still deserves an "A" for effort and definitely ranks up there as one of their better pieces.
