Great Music (2008-06-19) This is a very good CD.I especially liked the songs "On My Way Here", and "Grace of God". The singing is so remarkably fine.
Great feats of Clay (2008-06-02) "I've fallen hard But I've been loved And in the end it all works out My faith has conquered fear On my way here." Clay Aiken's been working pretty hard since his 2003 second place win on American Idol Season 2, becoming a UNICEF Ambassador in 2004 and this year gracing the Broadway stage in Spamalot. He's also done his share of touring and volunteer work, while still finding time to record this, his fourth full length studio album. The album comprises 12 tracks of radio-friendly pop ballads of varying tempos, the strong points being the clarity and purity of his voice, and the inspiring and emotional lyrics. The first single, which is also the title track, was co-written by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and was the inspiration for the album. "Where I Draw the Line" is another track that should be a single, and it's about not wanting to surrender your heart for fear of getting hurt. "Seems whenever I let somebody get this close I'm right back where I got hurt the most And that's why, oh that's why Around my heart is where I draw the line" "Grace of God" reflects on being grateful for the blessings in your life, empathizing with the many people who may be in need or in trouble. Other notable tracks are "Ashes"; "Everything I Don't Need" (where he throws in an R&B vibe); "Weight of the World" (great chorus) and "Lover All Alone" (co-written by Aiken) The only thing wrong with this album is that it's only 12 songs long. (I don't really like the cover art either, but that's neither here nor there) Recommended for American Idol and pop music fans. Amanda Richards
Thank you, Clay (2008-05-11) Since I received my copy of On My Way Here I've been listening to it daily. I love the uptempo songs on this CD and Clay's voice has never sounded better. Good job, Clay!!
A vocal masterpiece! (2008-05-11) What a terrific CD. If you're already a fan, there are layers to each song that will touch your heart. But this CD isn't just for Clay's fans. I urge anybody who loves a great voice and songs with depth and meaning to give this one a chance. You will be blown away! The opening/title track, On My Way Here is a great song, written by Ryan Tedder and intepreted to perfection by Clay. Tracks like Ashes and Falling and Everything I Don't Need will have you bopping along before you can help yourself. You might just find yourself saying 'that's Clay Aiken'? And then he will reach into your chest and squeeze your heart with songs like The Real Me and As Long As We're Here. And you'll be saying oh yeah, that's Clay Aiken - and this guy can sing! But the real gem is the final song on the CD. Clay's lyric and David Foster's music combine to produce a true vocal masterpiece
A really good surprise (2008-05-10) Thought I'd by the album as we had just seen Spamalot on a recent trip to Broadway and wondered how he'd be and wow, I was surprised. Really Good- My favourite tracks are ASHES- up beat and very catchy - ON MY WAY HERE- love the lyrics and his voices just soars and LOVER ALL ALONE- melancholy and haunting but what a showcase for his voice and a very simple arrangement that just adds to it's beauty. I was surprised when I read the album credits that David Foster wrote the music and Aiken the lyrics. Who knew this guy had that talent- Think I'll go back and check out his previous albums too. It's an album that I don't tend to skip songs on and that for me is a rarity- overall a very satisfying listen!
