A Return to Form for Counting Crows (2008-03-28)

I think there are two basic type of Counting Crows fans - those who like the early rootsy and rock stuff (the first two albums) and those who like the pop music they've been making lately. I fall strongly into the first category. I don't really have any use for their version of Big Yellow Taxi or Accidentally in Love (from the Shrek 2 soundtrack). I even thought that Hard Candy was a bit too slickly produced.So, for me, Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings is a return to form for Counting Crows. This is the best stuff they've done in over ten years. There is rock on this album, and there also is roots - but the cheesy pop is absent, and I'm glad.
