Due diligence is a good thing (2008-02-01)

to the people who complained - if you don't buy the bundle, you can't play it - this surprised you? Did you totally not understand what you were buying? While I don't own this product myself (yet), I've read a lot of reviews, and it's generally agreed upon that any pretty much any usb microphone will do (recommended logitech ones), that guitar hero guitars work in rock band (with specific limitations), and the drum set is coming out later this month as something you can buy individually.I'm actually planning to use two guitar hero guitars with this game, use the Karaoke revolution mike, and probably buy the drum set on its own - although buying the special edition set with everything included is probably cheaper.

Waste of money (2008-01-28)

Since you really require the use of instrument controllers, this purchase is a waste of money. No guitar controller will work with this disk other than the one made in the bundle. So if you bought the "other" guitar game, forget about using its guitar controller with this game. You need to buy the Rock Band Bundle that comes with the guitar, drums, and mic in order to justify this purchase. On its own, the disk by itself is useless.

be aware (2008-01-01)

For those of you who may be purchasing this as a gift, be warned!! What you get in this is only the disc, what is more important is the rest of the package, which of course, you cannot buy separately! (there is a set if drums, a guitar, microphone, etc!!) This is of very little use alone.
