Fantastic value for your money!! (2008-05-03) I recently bought this one after getting The Amazing Spiderman DVD collection from GIT Corp. I was so pleased with that one, I just had to try another! The Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer rocks HARD! The fact is, I didn't buy them for the stories - I bought them for the now-so-funky 1960s and '70s ad pages! I wonder if I can still buy those 'X-Ray glasses' from that company anymore, like I wanted to as a kid. Or that Rocket Ship that your Dad had to assemble. And what if some guy kicks sand in my face on a beach in front of my girlfriend and I don't look like Charles Atlas??! What then?? You really can't beat those ads, even more 'fantastic' than the comic story-lines (although we didn't really know it, at the time..)!Anyway, back to the comics. I never had enough money to be able to buy every issue of any Marvel comic series, and mostly had to borrow from friends to read what I didn't have and what I missed, and then I never kept up with it at all after a few years. So many gaps! Well, you can fill them all in right here, for such a small amount of money. Previous poster says: "It would take you Ten years, and Ten thousand dollars to get all this, or 50 dollars and a click of the mouse." Yeah, well, that's if you could ever even FIND them all! (Highly unlikely..it'll never happen.) So you better just do this! And no kidding, these are going out of stock quickly! And once they're gone, they're collector's items! But make no mistake, GIT Corp. didn't 'lose the contract' with Marvel - Marvel simply didn't renew it with them. Instead, Marvel decided it's going to go a different way, after hearing back from the marketplace about 'what an amazing deal these DVDs are', and how overjoyed people were with these DVDs. Whole comics collections on one disc, spanning 40 years!! And printable, too?! For the money, what a value! So Marvel listened to the market response, alright, and recognized it was 'too MUCH of a great deal - it was in fact a STEAL!'So, having realized a 'better way' of doing business with this, what Marvel will now start to do is make you go to their own website and 'rent' an issue, or perhaps a few at a time, for money (like an on-line comics library, where people can 'sign out' certain comic books for a limited time period). I imagine there will be other chargeable enhancements you might be happy to pay for as well, to go along with it. They haven't quite figured out yet how they'll be doing this, but rest assured, it's coming up soon! But by then, it will be far too late to pick up these GIT, all-on-one-disc collections. My recommendation is: this Fantastic Four/Silver Surfer disc is so worth your money, pay it. And buy at least one more of these GIT collections before they disappear, too. I don't see how you could ever regret it. Otherwise, you'll be paying rent at the Marvel site, for something that was previously ALL offered at a crazy, low price, one day in the past!
The Best release from GIT Corp Yet. (2008-02-25) This is without a doubt the best release GIT Corp has made so far. This set gives you 45 years of Fantastic Four Comics, as well as EVERY Silver Surfer comic. For Marvel fans, this is amazing, you get every issue up to 2007, every annual, all perfectly scanned, with all pages and advertisements in tact. If you are even looking at this page, then you would not be disapointed with this product. GIT Corp puts out an amazing product, not just this, but with all the other sets as well. most of them offer 500+ comics for 50 dollars, this one offers 700+ comics for the same price. These are all one one DVD, and there is a menu allowing you to switch between collections. The Menus are not terribly fancy, just like all the other sets have been, but you are not purchasing this CD For the Menus. The actual Comics are glorious, every issue, from issue 1 to the 45th anniversary.actually thats another thing. This website, the box itself and the companies website, advertises that it contains every issue up to 2006.THIS IS NOT THE CASE.It contains every issue up to 2007! Yes, if you have the recently released DVD set called "A House Divided" then this product here contains every issue up to that point (the 45th anniversary issue)all this and more could be yours, for pennies per issue. The Price is right, the Product is great, and without a doubt the BEST release GIT Corp has put out.Sadly GIT has lost the contract with Marvel, and these are going out of stock, so as soon as theyre gone, THEYRE GONE, so get them while they are still availible. It would take you Ten years, and Ten thousand dollars to get all this, or 50 dollars and a click of the mouse. There is ONE little problem. GIT released a Fantastic Four Box set 2 years ago, containing 500+ issues for 50 dollars. (since it was from longer ago, that set contains less Fantastic Four Issues than this one, and NO Silver Surfer Issues)The one problem that there is, is that if you have it already, there is no real point in paying 50 dollars for the Silver Surfer issues, and a few more FF ones. In all honesty, it almost feels like a slap in the face to those people. unfortunatly, thats just the way things work sometimes, and I suppose the best thing to do would be to trade in the old set for this one, and pay the difference. This has nothing to do with the product, and everything to do with the manufacturer, and Does not affect my review. If you do not have the old set, THIS is the product for you. So there you go, More Issues than you can shake a stick at, MORE than advertised, and an amazing product to begin with MADE BETTER, with the inclusion of EVERY Silver Surfer issue, and 2 MORE years of FF.
