Buster is the man! (2007-09-10)

For those who don't know Buster Keaton, he was in the silent era the principal rival of Charlie Chaplin; not personally but in the popularity department. Chaplin eventually got the win with his critic sense of humor, versatility and ability to adapt to talkies (talking pictures). As for Keaton, he went on to being almost forgotten following cheap roles in cheap motion pictures where his name would be used to enhance another actor. But, Keaton's golden days in Hollywood are now highlighted in this amazing 11 hours collection. Most people would think that for the price (less than $10), the picture quality would resemble the one in the Mills Creek's 50 movie pack collections BUT it's the opposite! The quality is superb, the movies and shorts were mastered digitally to look and sound perfect!Keaton had a childhood in vaudeville, which had clearly an influence on the movies. He is a pale and serious clown face that never smiles. His movies rely entirely on physical humor and dangerous stunts that oftenly injured him. You will love this genius of the silent era and maybe even start to prefer him over Chaplin. Witness for yourself this passionate man transforming the bussiness with his unique vintage special effects, large stunts, real time and size sets and obvious love for making people laugh!This box-set contains Buster's masterwork: "The General". This movie is viewed as his best work and is in the IMDB top 250 of best movies, containing the legendary train crash scene! Can't get a better deal for starters or those who want a big load of Keaton's filmography and don't want to pay big bucks for Kino Video's DVDs.
