The African Queen (2007-06-10)  If your are a Bogie fan this film is a must! Katherine Hepburn is a virginal missionary and Bogie is a messy, loser who insists on saving her life. Of course, there is a love interest, but it's the darnest love story you'll ever see. There can't be any two less likely candidates for marraige than these two, but in the end ....If you haven't seen it already I recommend "White Hunter, Black Heart" starring Clint Eastwood as John Huston who directs The African Queen. It gives you a clear indication of the type of man Huston was and why he's such a action-packed director. It's the story behind this film. As I was told a story by my teacher In the History of Film course, Huston was filming a war documentary and his camera man balked at shooting planes that were shooting at him so Huston grabbed the camera headed out on the deck of the torpedo boat and shot the Japanese Kamakasi fighters through a hail of bullets. He lost an eye but he made the best documentary of the war era. To him authenticy was everything. That is the way he's directed this film.Bogie and Hepburn caught up in the war decide to sink a German ship eventhough it will undoubtedly cost them their lives. With the help of god and a rain shower they are given that opportunity. I won't spoil the ending but the journey down the Blue Nile to the ocean with these two tough-minded, determined, willful people makes the movie. The direction is tight, the acting is phenomenal and this movie is one you will watch again and again.
