A very poorly-made documentary (2008-04-06)

I normally love documentaries, even ones that are not very fancy or made with a big budget. This one, however, was very poor. They didn't really have a point! The first 15-20 minutes talk all about the difficulty of defining terms like 'stupidity', 'moron', 'idiot', etc. Then they attempt to review the history of these terms (though I don't trust their research, considering that they messed up several facts in the section about the history of intelligence testing). The rest of the movie attempts to prove the point that people do stupid things (which you probably already knew if you were interested in watching it in the first place!!). At the end of the show, the narrator comments that it would be important to learn why stupidity happens on a large scale and how it affects our culture. But they don't bother to even try to answer this question!! I thought that something like this WOULD be the thesis of the show, but apparently not. Don't bother to watch this. Don't even rent it. Very disappointing considering that I have seen some quite good work by these same people....

Don't waste your money (2007-10-13)

Worse documentary I've seen. Uninformed, staged pretention. Buy anything else. Don't get swayed by the references to Chomsky, Bush, Suzuki....they don't even impact the overall product.
