Prodigy, The Fat of Something Different. (2004-11-05) I wrote a review about this before, luckily it never got posted. I changed my mind on giving it five stars. Why? Because it could have been a lot better. There are 3 or 4 good songs and the rest of them are either okay or crap. Don't get me wrong I have been a fan of Prodigy for a long time and I think Howlett is great, but this cd is nothing like The Fat of the Land or any of his past ones. I give him support for trying something new, but I wasn't impressed. The great thing about Howlett is that he doesn't give a damn about people who don't like his work.So would I go buy the cd? YES, I would. Even though it is different, it's still good. There's songs that have really good bass, beat and pump you up. The rappers sound awesome, the singers for the other hand could of sounded better, but all well. Maybe the rest of them will get back together again. LET HOPE FOR THE BEST.
Prodigy is going ELECTRONIC (2004-09-15) This album is more Electronic and less Alternative. As a hardcore Prodigy fan for more than 7 years, I didnt get what i expected from the new cd. I wanted some agressive and powerful lyrics and music that give you addrenaline and make you go crazy. This album is still good because i like electronic music. That is the reason why i rated it 5 stars, because for its kind of music, it really rocks. If you like The Chemical Brothers, Future Sounds Of London, Air, Massive Attack, and etc, you will defenetly like this album. Further more, this album has mostly female vocals, and a little oldschool hiphop; but not Keiths and Maxims aggressive vocals. Its kind of based with old 80's beats mixed with the new latest sounds. Its a very cool album for Cars. Hotride is a really nice track. Again I expected more. If you guys expected an album like The Fat Of The Land, you will be dissapointed just like me.
Welcome Back (2004-09-12) Long overdue return of the Prodigy. Solid enoegh beats from Liam. Could of been better with the original roster. Track 5 is the BOMB.
Good...But not Great. (2004-08-30) Having just puchased " Always Outnumbered..." , I think that some of the fans (especially the newer ones) may be dissapointed with this album. That's not to say the album is'nt good. It just does'nt quite live up to past albums. The album starts of with a bang with the very hard (and very loud) "Spitfire" , a great track, with a fierce beat. (This song would work great live). It then switches to an old- school style, with "Girls", which I think will be the first single. This is also a great, fun song, and is easily the best song on the album. Picture an old break dancing song from the early eighties and you will know what I mean. (However, if you were born after the year 1983, or so, you might not get it). As good as those songs are, though, they are not nearly as good as the songs from past albums( Firestarter, Poison, Voodoo People, etc). And while Liam Howlett has many ideas on this album, they often end up sounding like only ideas, not fully fleshed out songs. Like the song "The way it is", which samples Michael Jacksons "Thriller". Sounds cool. But after listening to this song, all I kept thinking about was the original "Thriller ", and how it sounded. What hurts this album the most , though, is the absence of Keith and Maxim. While most of the guest vocals are decent enough, (like Twista, Kool Kieth, and surprisingly Juliette Lewis) Kieth and Maxim could have done just as good a job, themselves. "Always Outnumbered, Never Outguned" is still a very good album despite it's flaws, and is more exciting than most of the music out there. I would suggest, however, listening to this album at a local music store before you purchase it.
Great beats! (2004-08-27) Yeah, though I'm not a Huge Prodigy fan, tracks 04 and 09 are great! Go the Prodigy!
