Electric Joe Satriani ; "An Anthology" (2004-07-11)

I've never been a Satriani fan, but one day I was taking a nap, and out of nowhere something woke me up, and was telling me to go buy a J. Satriani CD...I bought this.

I enjoy various types of music from Aerosmith to Iron Maiden to Rush, and I've always loved great guitarist like Malmsteen and Ray Vaugn, but I just never felt that Satriani would be anything I would enjoy....

I'll tell you, the minute I popped this in, I was blown away. What was that strange thing that woke me up that afternoon telling me to buy this CD???...I still find it creepy.

Anyway, I've only gotten through 15 songs of this 30 track CD {basically because I can't stop listening CD #1 long enough to hear CD #2}, and I'm convinced that J. Satriani is the best guitarist on the planet bar none....

This is simply amazing. My jaw hit the floor. I'm so happy I bought this, and I can't wait to hear everything he has to offer on CD and DVD....

BLOWN AWAY...

If you like guitarists between 1980's till now,you need this (2004-06-29)

Joe satriani's music is for anyone who's loved the air guitar or humming to a guitar riff or tune. His music is so diverse, it can pump you up, or put you to sleep. His music bares meaning with melodic soothing and symphonic harmony, and can you carry your thoughts and mind to any time frame you desire. His music emcompasses all of your musical influences and inspirations from all times in one song. The album is worth buying to sooth the soul and inspire the heart.
excellent album portraying satriani's career (2004-04-25)

joe satriani is simply awesome at guitar, and has replaced jimmy page as my guitar hero/idol. as a young evolving guitarist, to me he is incredible i can never fanthom doing anything or pioneering the level or style that joe plays at such ease. i always enjoyed satriani, and this able is awesome to die hard fans as well as well as those just experiencing satch for the first time. this able caught me on suprise-since myself i had not seen the wide variety of satchs entire discography. this album is entirely solid and a pleasure to listen to. i love how the songs where voted off his site; so that they are the fan favorites, rare cuts, and not a cheap cash live/or best of cd that is lacking. oh yeah- the album was remastered, and you immediatedly notice the full sound, espically that kick ass bass. listen to it, check it out, enjoy satch's chilled/relaxed/experimental style take you away
Guitar music for non guitarists as well (2004-03-10)

There are good reasons why JS has crossed over into the mainstream, while most other guitar shredders are stuck with playing to their niche audiences of metal guitar geeks. The main one is that he has produced many memorable tunes that just stick in the mind. Too many of the Shrapnel shredders are so busy showing off their pyrotechnics they forget the tunes. Secondly, he doesn't do the neo-classical thing, which generally comes across to mainstream listeners as being self-indulgent and pompous. He draws from a lot wider range of styles. Thirdly, he doesn't overdo the shredding but plays with restraint when called for. The other difference is that he doesn't keep making the same album but takes chances such as the bluesy and very unflashy 'Joe Satriani' and the techno 'Engines of Creation'. Many of the classics are on here but clearly he'd need to come up with a Part 2 compilation to do himself justice. I'd like to've seen tracks like 'Motorcycle Song', 'Cant slow down', 'Headless', 'Day at the beach', 'War' and 'House full of bullets' included. Still, for non-aficionados this is probably the best place to start.

Words, could never do this collection of songs,by maybe the greatest guitar player ever, justice.Fact is ,you shouldnt be talking while this cd is playing anyways, because every song is that good and deserves that much attention.Yes,some of his great songs are missing, but this is as close as you can get to pleasing everyone without actually doing so.Like others,i also own all the Satriani cd's and this is icing on the best cake ive ever had!If you like satch, there is no reason what soever, you wont drool over this exceptional collection of digitally remastered songs, spanning this legend's brilliant career!
