Awesome CD (2005-04-11)  This CD is really good. Alot of people don't like SOTY and I can't get a grip on why. Their sound is really good and powerful, and the screaming is really good, some of the best I've heard. If you like these guys though, and really want to have the ultimate SOTY experience, you HAVE TO see them live. I saw them twice, the first time they were the opening band, second time they were the headliners. Both times, they played their hearts out and delivered awesome stuff. The bassist is crazy live, he goes insane on stage. All around really good show.
soty (2005-01-05) wow. I was blown away when I heard this cd. Great lyrics, sound and i really never listened to them before. I heard their song "anthem of our dying day" from a friend, and decided to buy their cd cause of the sound that they have. I was so lucky to get this kind of cd. I just bought it a good month ago and ive listened to it so much that theres scratches and it skips. I think theyre very underated, and well..i love them!
This is the story of the year! (2004-07-23) This band is one of the best in it's genre. It doesn't offer anything too new to the genre, but they make the most of it. They play with energy and passion, both in ballads and hard, heavy songs. They execute the music perfectly, and they are very well rounded, but retain their edgyness. The vocals are clean, but he can scream as well as he can sing. No metal growls or barks here, but just screaming. The lyrics are well written, short and concise. They speak of many things, but the roots are childhood angst, raw emotion, and relationships. The guitars. Nothing very impressive on the hard tracks, but on the softies like "Anthem Of Our Dying Day", "Swallow The Knife" and "Sidewalks", the guitars are great. I love the orcastra in "Sidewalks", it adds such a greta dynamic to the song, and really keeps it going. The guitars on the harder songs just seem to be normal punk power chords, but they are progressing into insane tempos and beats by the end of the album. The bass. Well, as I always mention, no one appriciates the bass guitar. The bass is quite important in punk music in general, and I will not over look it. The bass keeps a great beat, very melodic. The guy is skilled. He really is the backbone of this band, he's the one whos making the timing shifts and the one who makes the hard songs that much better. The Drums. Good beat base back there. Nothing new or experimental, but he can play his heart out. The CD has a great mix of soft and hard songs. My favourite by far is "Dive Right In", followed by "Razorblades", and then "Falling Down". "Falling Down" is a song that shows where the band may go later on, as it is very fast and punky, not alot of melody, and brutal lyrics to top it off. If you want a great punk-rock CD with awesome acoustics and slow, technical songs, SOTY's Page Avenue is for you. They have great potential in my books, and have already established a sound for themselves.
Page Avenue - Story Of The Year (2004-07-16) This is a great cd that's full of different sounds and rhythems. This CD goes from rock to softer rock and then hard rock. I wouldn't advise this CD for the squemish when it comes to screaming though. If your not too bad...then this CD is definitely worth the risk. Replay value for this CD in my opinion is a 9/10. Amazing (2004-07-16) I saw this band this summer at, The Warped Tour. They are awsome performers. This Cd is by far my favorite in my cd collection. Don't miss out on this one. All of there songs are great, great sound. Just all around an awsome band. Buy it! You won't be disapointed.
