The best thing about this prenatal yoga tape is that there is a model for each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches and exercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications for the second and third trimesters (they're even dressed in different colors for easy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have about the safety of certain moves--especially in that cumbersome final stage of pregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Shea and her assistants take viewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairs for support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child's pose, plank pose--all with the necessary adjustments. She winds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back--the traditional position--with the second-trimester woman on her side and the third on her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations, Shea has made a tape with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through her entire pregnancy--and beyond, if she wishes. --Kimberly Heinrichs

My best pregnancy purchase! (2008-07-16) This is an excellent buy. The exercises are for your first, second and third trimester with variations for each trimester. The video is relaxing and not too "airy fairy". My first birth was an easy labour with no epidural -- I attribute some of my luck to this video which I religiously did about twice a week during my pregnancy. You will not be disappointed!
Excellent Yoga Video and Massage Class (2008-05-14) The video is great! Great poses, perfect for all three trimesters but also individualized since we don't all fit into the trimester 'blocks', for example, I could do many the second trimester exercises well into my third trimester. This shows you how to accomodate your changing body while practicing yoga. Even if you haven't practices before, this video is great. Nice and slow, flow style yoga, great instruction. The voice-over that people complain about is actually preferable to me in this video and I don't find anything wrong with her voice/tone. The massage bonus segment is excellent! My husband practiced this on me and if felt great, now we both have something to practice during pregnancy!
Very Relaxing (2007-11-12) Shiva Rea is a wonderful instructor; the workout was easy to do and safe. To prevent backpain and gain flexibility, prenatal yoga is recommended
Great Prenatal Video (2006-11-17) This is a fabulous prenatal yoga video. There are 3 people in the video, one for each trimester (the 2nd and 3rd trimester woman are really in that trimester) so you always get the perfect workout. The video is very relaxing. It can be done over and over without becoming annoying.
A piece of cake! (2006-09-27) While I was entering the world of pregnancy for the first time I came across many yoga videos that were somewhat vigorous, straining or much too scary. Skipping through the library the only video left at the stand was Shiva Rea's Prenatal Yoga. Quite truthfully I wasn't expecting much from "yet another yoga video". Long story short, I loved this video because you didn't have to stress yourself if there was something you couldn't do. Baby loved the rocking-judging by all her kicking. The instructions were simple yet challenging, relaxing and achievable. After a while the poses became a piece of cake so it didn't take much motivation for me to get dressed in the morning and put the video on before breakfast. I got excited about being more flexible. I felt great, even energised so much that I'd walk around the block for 30 minutes after the workout. I also loved how the 3 trimesters were split between 3 ladies so I would follow the woman according to the stage I was in. (Didn't come across that in any other video.)Most of all by my surprise my husband was willing to practice his skills in massage as instructed by Michelle Kluck also included on the video. What an awesome idea! Coupling massage with yoga just makes sense. My husband even started showing off to others of how much his pregnant wife does yoga which made me feel embarrassed but invincible at the same time. All thanks to being flexible after constantly checking the video out by alternating between two different libraries and extending my hireage about four times and never stepping a foot into a gym, my labor took an excruciating 37 minutes! A personal THANK YOU Shiva Rea and co.
