Great CD, not copying the Beatles at all (2005-01-02)

First of all, this is a great cd, and anyone who likes it should go pick up the "Rock & Roll Circus" DVD if they want to hear some drug-fueled versions of a couple of this album's tunes. Second of all, the Stones didn't copy the beatles with the cover with the handwriting on it, it was meant to look like an invitation. Also, last time I checked the Beatles weren't the the only rock band to use a sitar. Besides, George was friends with Ravi Shankar who taught him, so if you're going to say the Stones copied the Beatles, I guess the Beatles copied Shankar.

To the person who wrote the Stones were poking fun at "let it be" (with their masterpiece "Let It Bleed") Only one problem - LET IT BLEED was out BEFORE "let it be"
Raise your glass to the salt of the earth... (2004-06-28)

This is an incredible album. Other stones fans have complained about some sloppy instrumentals and out-of-tune harmonies, but I think these minor setbacks only add to the laid-back and relaxing feel of the album. It has a lot of stellar tracks, including the beautiful songs "Salt of the Earth" and "Jigsaw Puzzle". I strongly recommend this instead of Forty Licks or any other compilation album as an introduction to the Stones. I bought Forty Licks myself, and don't get me wrong, it has a lot of good music on it, but: it's not in context. They're just a disjointed bunch of songs. Then, I got this album from a library and fell in love. I realized what an idiot I was to buy the best-of album, this is so much better. So, to sum up: future stones fans should buy this album, it's a great introduction, and current stones fans should have this album already, but if you don't, buy it with all speed. Rock on!!
An American Recording (2004-06-26)

Following a break in recording Mick Jaggar, who had compiled an immense record collection, began sampling his records. His recordings were mostly bluegrass, blues, and country. When the band reached the recording studio they made an American recording that included both blues and country with a Rolling Stone flavor. Beggar's Banquet was the result. It is one of the greatest recordings of all time. The record is great, saving the best for last in a tribute song Salt of the Earth.

Let it Bleed seems to me more like its poking fun at Let it Be than trying to rip it off. Not to mention Let it Bleed is a whole lot better a song, in my opinion. And Sitars, gotta be copying the Beatles if you use one of those, that's why all of India is rocking the John Lennon haircut. I always found the Stones to be a whole lot better than the Beatles...and considering that they didn't implode after John Lennon's death, I'd say they've got some of their own talent.

This album is great. Though as many people have said, not their greatest album. If you like the Stones though, even a little, I would recommend buying this.
