Amazon.ca Product Description

Resident Evil, the game that is often credited with starting the survival-horror genre, is being reinvented for the GameCube. For those unfamiliar with the series, a mysterious corporation has secretly been performing ungodly biotech experiments in the sleepy little town of Raccoon City. When reports of gory attacks come in from nearby areas, two crack military squads are sent to investigate. Players take the role of either sharpshooter Chris Redfield or demolitions expert Jill Valentine to track down the source of the town's problems--specifically, something in a decaying mansion that's mutating animals into grotesque killers and turning humans into bloodthirsty zombies. Supplies and ammunition are scarce, so players have to know when to fight, when to run, and how to keep their wits about them. Players can't afford to waste their shots and expect their characters to survive.

The story is being retrofitted with motion-captured animation, next-generation graphics, real-time lighting and shadow effects, new areas, and newly rendered in-game video segments to create an even more cinematic experience. Also, a redesigned combat system lets players attack and defend themselves with a variety of items found in the environment.

Great plot, Best graphics, awesome game (2007-04-15)

the very first time i had heard about this game back in 1996 when it was on the playstation platform i was immediatley sucked into it's synopsis. I had played it and it was the ... eh... third best (plot wise) game i had ever played. And i was so exited when it came out in 2002 on the Nintendo GC platform. The remake has the best graphics of all Resident Evil games so far and resident evil 4 has AWESOME graphics! The game begins with the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team searching for the Bravo Team which had recently dissapeared somewhere over raccoon forest durring a mission investigating bizzare homicides involving canabalistic attacks in the Arklay Region. When they spot the crashed helicopter (which had suffered from engine failure, revield in Resident Evil 0) They land to check things out. The S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team consist of the following members: Albert Wesker, the leader of the Alpha team, Chris Redfield, the pointman, Jill Valentine, who is in charge of rear security and also (not portrayed in the game) specializes in bomb disposal, Barry Burton, the "back up man" and weapons expert, Joseph Frost, in charge or weapons and vehical maintenence, and Brad "Chickenheart" Vickers, in charge of rear security and is the helicopter piolet,he also gets scared easily and all in all is the REAL hero of the game (if u think about it i guess) After investigating the helicopter they find that the piolet, kevin dooley, has been mauled beyond recognition. Shortley after Joseph Frost gets attacked by zombified dogs (cerberus) and is ripped to pieces as jill can only watch in horror. The dogs begin to chase the remaining team. While running for their lives Brad Vickers can be seen taking off in the helicopter above. Obviously it was to much for him to handle. Just when they were about to give up ,Wesker comes and saves them and then tells them to run to that nearby mansion (why didn't they see it before?). Once inside the character will embark on a horrific adventure fighting a manifestation of blood-thirsty zombies, hunters, zombie dogs, mutant sharks, and even a gigantic snake while solving terrifying mysteries and unlocking horrifying new secrets! this game offers a wide variety of new things. New areas like a guest house, new estate rooms, graveyards and more information on the background of the enormous mansion as in: who built it, why, and on who's orders, and come face to face with a terrifying new enemy, Lisa Trevor (sounds scary!). Your decisions durring gameplay effect your overall adventure and this game with scare the hell out of you because you never EVER know what's going to happen next. Zombies can open doors now and it's more challenging than ever since there is limited ammo and far less ink ribons (in which you use to save at typewritters.. which are limited as well) and the zombies are faster and more agressive. The graphics are amazing down to the very fibers of Jill and Chris's shirts. Explore area's all the way from state-of-the-art Labratories, and then all the way to damp, spider infested caves. Even if your not a fan of the horror genre you should buy this game... it's the most terrifying, realisting game i've ever played and by far the best one too. It's 150% a Must buy!
VERY good game (2004-12-20)

As the title says this is a VERY good game IF your into survival horror, yeah SURVIVAL horror, your not going to rush into a group of zombies unloading your little amount of ammo into them only to be killed in 30 seconds, anyway it's awesome, the graphics are amazing, no more frames for backrounds and the great graphics make the game even creepier. The sound is also great, making the game creepier. The controls are still crappy, but their not as annoying as people make them sound. The gameplay is still the same but with a few new features but it's still fun, there's also new areas and other things, it's fun killing zombies but you have to know when to avoid battles to conserve ammo and stay alive. Overall it's a great game, don't listen to the low reviews, their probably not into the survival horror genre, but if you are get this game. NOW.
The Rebirth of a new Nightmare.... (2004-07-14)

Resident Evil the Remake is easily one of the best looking Games to ever be created to a console system. The graphics are just plain beautiful. The controls...well...uh..mmhh..SUCKS!I don't get how people wyn about the camera angle...It was find to me. A little frustraiting but fine.

I loved this game even though Zero was a disapointment...I loved ZERO but still The remake will be a classic in the RE series.

Lets start of by saying RE is a very messed up game...Biological mutating monsters, Zombies, ect...The game is just plain creepy..The Remake makes silent hill 3 look like another episode of micky mouse.

Lets start off with my review of everything in the game now...

The controlls..Yes the controlls suck! Big time! I hated em'...Couldn't stand em...But I still managed to beat the game..It's 2 disks I think..Capcom should have done better on the controlls.....4/5...yea...after all that whyning I still give it a 4/5..hmmm

The graphics..Do I really need to review this?.....5/5!!!

The story..Great...just like the Original except better and nothing was censored like the original PSX version in the U.S. Very smart..very cool and very exciting. The story is also great cause it has some twists and turns...Great..5/5..

Gameplay..I liked the gameplay alot...the graphics saved it alittle though..The part with the tanks with the shark scenario with Jill and Chris was brilliant...the water movement was just...GORGIOUS....My spelling sucks I know...The tryant part was fun too...Everything was fun...and Creeeeeeeeepy...5/5

Is this the best Resident Evil game ever?...Oh hell no...the best RE game was 3..Nemisis...I lost my PSX copy of Nemisis though but Fortunaly I baught the Gamecube version which is just as good as the PSX version...It's a port from the Dreamcast version which is good....Acctually I think Resident Evil 4 will be the best but for now it's 3...

I own almost every Resident Evil game..story wise I mean..not like added stuff capcom made like OUTBREAK..I own..mmm let's see..Resident Evil remakeResident Evil original PSX versionResident Evil 2 for psx but lost it and now got the Gc version..Resident evil 3 for GC...THE BEST RE GAME EVER!Resident Evil Zero...Ohh this game had some potential...It is yet another RE story game..not some special thing Capcom made like The gun one and Outbreak...I've reviewd all the RE games I own on the versions I've played....This is probably 3 place for RE game...Nemisis...2..then Remake..then ZERO....

RE remake should be owned by Hardcore RE gamers...The hardest RE game I've played was 3 nd' remake...CV was alright..I didn't like it that much..I got all the way through disk 1 in the Dreamcast version and then stoped and had to return it for a friend...Didn't like it that much...

Which character has a better scenario in RE Remake?...Will alot of people thought it was Jill but I liked Chris's story line in Resident Evil remake...I loved his character development(Donno why I said that but I think thats what it's calld...whatever..) with Rebecca Chambers...Uh I don't wanna sound like a perv but Every time I think of the name Rebecca Chambers It sounds like a porn stars name...lol..Rebecca Chambers is also in Resident evil Zero...But what was also cool about Chris is his story line is a tad bit more dramatic...like

SPOILERS...When Jill does the right thing and gets the antodote for Richard he later gets eatin by a Huge ass Snake..In Chris storyline When you save him he later gets torn apart by a Massive giant shark...Honestly though...They should have givin you a reason why he was at the Shark tank for a reason..THEY DON'T GIVE YOU ANY REASON...He jus...He just shows up there for no reason...Chris's version of the game is more frustraiting then Jills Part...

There was alot of other things I wanet to change about the storyline between the two like...for one example Jills Good ending..Wesker...SPOILER AHEAD...gets smacked by the Tyrant and gets away with it..I would Have rather wanted him to be killed by the Tyrant like in Chris's good ending nd' bad ending.....

This game has loads of ending even though you don't have to start the entire game over just to get a different ending....You just have to change some stuff and make some decisions I think...Theres about 12 endings total with Chris n' Jill...

This game is over all 5/5...Or what I like to say 9.8 out of 10...

Oh! And if you wanna see Jill again Like me then you should get Resident Evil 3 Nemisis for the Game Cube....

Later...

Resident Evil: Return of the Clunky Controls! (2004-07-10)

For those of you who don't know, "Resident Evil" was a super popular survival/horror game that originally appeared on the PlayStation. It has since spawned several sequals, although after the third they started to really kinda suck.

Well, the other year Capcom re-released the original "Resident Evil", with updated graphics and extended gameplay, for the GameCube. I bought it yesterday and played it for about eight hours, as Jill. It's a far cry from the original, that's for sure.

Things that have changed:Voice acting has improved drastically. When you first enter the mansion you don't see anybody making strange, exaggerated arm gestures and rattle off absurd lines (like when Barry gives Jill the lockpick and says that she, "a master of unlocking", could use it better). Graphics are much, much better--candle flames look damned good, for one, and the human characters move their mouths and blink and their eyes glint, that sort of thing. Zombies don't look quite so ridiculous.Gameplay has been extended enourmously, and the layout of the mansion is quite different. Based on seemingly trivial things that you do, the story can take more twists and turns than it did before and often it isn't until much later that you find out that you've screwed up beyond all hope. You can now defend yourself if attacked--Jill can carry a tazer and a few daggers. That way, you can actually do something if a zombie grabs you instead of just try to wrestle free.

Things that haven't changed:The controls are still clunky and for the first hour it's a struggle just to get around a corner, but it's not impossible to adjust. "Up" on the joystick is always forward, and once I forced myself to always remember that I started navigating pretty easily. There are three different control settings that you can try, but they don't help too much and control setting "B," I thought, was even worse.Camera angles are a little better, but they're still bad; you can still find yourself facing a zombie only two feet away from you, but you can't see to attack because the camera's staring your character dead in the face.

Overall, a refreshing take on the original game, with enough new features and changes to the story that veterans of the series will still find new things to do, but it would've been nice if they had fixed the controls and the camera angles.

Awesome (read the book too) (2004-07-05)

I really like this game. I think it has the most difference from the original. It looks great, with the environments matching those in Silent Hill. But since there isn't blood everywhere, you can see a little better. The camera angles are annoying sometimes, and it's especially confusing in the beginning. It's tough to control, because you turn as slowly as the zombies and you can't really control the gun. It would be nice if you could blow off zombie heads by pointing the gun up just a little, but you can't. There are weapons that shoot off their heads anyway, like the Magnum. And if you use the shotgun right, you can use that to do it, too. There are no good melee weapons, and you'd get killed trying to kill much with the knife. The voice acting was alright, and I had sympathy for some of the characters. There is some replay value because there are different difficulties, such as invisible enemy and real survivor. You get rewards for defeating the game in a certain amount of time or on a certain level. So overall, the game was fun and is worth the money.
