From Amazon.co.uk
The story of Eva Cassidy--her phenomenal talent, her innocence, simplicity and lack of worldly ambition, and her sudden death from cancer at the age of 33--has caught the public imagination in a most remarkable way, especially in Britain. Once heard, Eva Cassidy's voice is unforgettable. Her tone was pure and clear, unclouded by vibrato and unwavering in pitch, but she could manipulate it to take in husky blues, ringing ballads or simple, unadorned folksong. It was all too much for record company executives. They didn't know what to do with such unlimited talent. As a result, she recorded very little, mostly in the small Washington DC studio of her friend, bassist Chris Biondo. That is where most of these tracks originate and there are some gorgeous performances among them. They make an moving introduction to the all-too-short career of a great popular singer. --Dave Gelly

Sorti en 2000, Time After Time comprend quinze titres inédits enregistrés en studio, à quoi s'ajoutent quatre chansons live. --Philippe Margotin

A Wonderful Talent Who Left Us Too Soon (2004-07-16) I discovered Eva Cassidy's "Time after Time," and I was blown away by her talent and ability to sing a wide variety of songs. Simply said, Ms. Cassidy had a wonderful voice, one that was strong and one that could elicit emotion, all at the same time. She puts her stamp on such standard popular songs like "Kathy's Song," "Ain't No Sunshine," "Time After Time," and "Woodstock." The other songs on the CD are equally amazing. Get this CD. You will not be disappointed.
EVA and GENIE are the best (2004-07-07) Time after Time is not my favorite Eva album, but I think you should have all of the albums by EVA and Genie. I would get this one and Songbird and get WILDFLOWERS by GENIE.
Just Between Us (2004-04-22) This is Eva's best album. "Songbird" is fine but I prefer the songs on this CD. Isn't it amazing that "Time After Time" and "Songbird" have remained ranked so high on Amazon sales and have retained their resale value so well? Maybe not so amazing when you consider the wonder of Eva Cassidy.
...but there needs to be more than the voice (2004-01-30) I found the reviews for this CD and Ms Cassidy's other recording to be so enthusiastic, I had to listen. I ordered this recording and "Songbird". I will agree she had a great voice. She apparently was able to cover quite a range of musical styles and do all of them well. She had a lot of talent and it's sad it never had a chance to blossom or have a proper vehicle that could have carried it to the success she so richly deserved. The unfortunate problem with this recording and with her other recordings I have heard is the voice is all there is. She was saddled with some mediocre musicians. The recordings are sometimes muddy and off-balance. There are technical problems in the engineering and these tapes would never have been allowed out of the studio under more professional guidance. There is also an unbalance in the material presented. Most recordings have some common thread or style that allows the music to flow from the first track through to the end. The flow here is not smooth. Yes, I know the CD's are composed of the archive of material Ms Cassidy recorded prior to her death and that means there will be limitations. But this recording and, with the exception of "Songbird", the others I have heard have so many limitations, it's hard to consider them as anything but a mined archive that ultimately disappoints those interested in good music. "Songbird" sounds better and, because it is a sampler, flows better. As much as Ms Cassidy's untimely death saddens me, the loss of the possibility of ever hearing her outstanding voice with the respectful recording and professional backing it deserved is even more depressing.
THERE ARE NO WORDS FOR SUCH AN UNCLASSABLE PERSON... (2004-01-27) Do you heart a favor and get it!
