Covers Too? (2004-04-12) I couldn't understand before I purchased this album, why he did covers(Being as talented as he is) until I lisened to the cd. Now I know. He simply wanted to do some of his favorites and what a job he did. With his deep throaty vocals, and fiery lead guitar riffs, he sheds new light on these already famous tunes. I'm not much for a band with an already great repertoire doing covers but he does the songs justice. Listening to him sing with passion and fire to an already great list of songs, he adds a twist to them that you haven't heard before.
Amazing, brilliant, Jeff's best album! (2004-01-11) This is by far Jeff's best album. It departs from the rest of his work in the sense that it is not a pop-rock album, but rather an amazing trip into the realms of the Blues. Jeff is simply brilliant. His technique, vibe and unique approach to the guitar sets him as one of the greatest players of our times. His versions of Stop Breaking Down, Moon is Full, and Lennons' Yer Blues are the high points of the album, in my opinion. If you are a guitar player, like me, or if you love blues, you have to add "Cover to Cover" to your collection.
Come on Jeff, Covers? (2000-09-07) Jeff Healey is a phenomenally talented and gifted guitarist who deserves attention beyond the borders of his Canadian homeland. With that understanding, it is somewhat puzzling to me that he would go into the studio to record 16 covers, 4 of which, "Freedom" (Jimi Hendrix), "I Got A Line" (Randy California), "Run Through The Jungle" (J.C. Fogerty) and "Badge" (Eric Clapton) appear only on the version released overseas. Moreover, how does "Stuck In The Middle With You" make it on a blues/rock CD? Outside of Jeff's spectacular playing, there is nothing new hear whatsoever. I deduct 2 stars for the lack of original material and recommend the 1992 release 'Feel This" as an alternative.
Jeffrey Lets it Rip! (2000-05-28) No time to do justic by this supberb blues-rock album, but suffice to say I recently rated it one of the 20 best albums of the decade. Whether burnin' his way through a blues classic such as Evil or I'm Ready, or revamping Led Zeppelin and Stealer's Wheel rockers, Mr. Healey and band smoke like few others on the planet are capable of. If there is any blues/rock guitarist who has inhertied Stevie Ray Vaughn's crown as both a incindiary guitarist and singer, it is Jeff. I highly recommend this and his first album, See the Light. I was disappointed by both Hell to Pay and Full Circle, but who cares when you have the other two to play! Jeff, why did you play so little of Cover to Cover in concert the other night?
Another great CD by one of the best guitarists of our time!! (1999-02-01) I have bought all of his CDs and this is the one that shows off his great talent, all the way from ANGEL to AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY. Jeff and his band deserve a hell of a lot more credit and appreciation for what he is doing than they get. He is one of the best guitarists of our time and I wish people would realize that.
