Bathroom escapades aside, there's no denying that George Michael has been responsible for some of the biggest party jams of the '80s and '90s. Have you ever noticed what happens to a room when "Faith" erupts from the speakers? Aside from the funk-fueled "Fastlove," the material from his most recent album, Older, is well and truly overshadowed here by the megahits from days gone by. The first disc starts off slow, with "Careless Whisper" and his remake of "I Can't Make You Love Me" the only real high points among otherwise bland ballads. It's disc 2 that exudes the essence of Michael, with "Fastlove," "Too Funky," and "Freedom 90" providing a nonstop dance-athon, and "I Want Your Sex" and "Faith" picking up the slack. The package also includes his rather unexciting (but hugely popular) duets with Queen and Elton John, his perfect pop pairing with Aretha Franklin, and two new tracks. Set aside some serious time for this one, folks. The hits don't stop. --Rebecca Wallwork

The ultimate George Michael collection!! George Michael delivers with this collection!! (2006-10-09) George Michael's greatest hits package is a 2-disc retrospective of all his hits since his departure from WHAM!! Careless Whisper was his first solo #1 single and it is one of my favorite songs. He scored #1 hits with Father Figure, One More Try, Faith and Monkey. Kissing A fool and I want your sex reached the top five. Praying For Time reached #1. I Knew you were waiting for me was #1 single. He scored major hits with Fastlove, Freedom, Too Funky and Jesus to a child. George Michael is one of the most talented male singers out there. This is the definitive collection from George Michael and every George Michael fan should have this album in their collection.
Career Retrospective and Career Best! (2004-12-28) George Michael is one of Pop's most versatile Artists and a true Survivor. It's no suprise then that "Ladies & Gentleman: The Best of George Michael" is an Annual Best Seller at Amazon the world over! The opening track on the "for the heart" CD1, "Jesus to a Child", is nothing short of stunning: "Sadness in my eyes; no one guessed, well no one tried; you smiled at me; like Jesus to a Child; loveless and cold; with your last breath you saved my soul; you smiled at me; like Jesus to a Child." George does just a competent take of "I Can't Make You Love Me"; Bonnie Raitt's version is definitive. But he more than makes up for it with his own "Praying for Time", a song with a timeless message. CD2 "for the feet" contains all the mid and uptempo Dance/Pop Hits. Highlights include "Freedom 90" and "Faith". George's fans should also check out the new release from Pop/Rock Artist Amber - "My Kind of World". Amber's CD is an eclectic Collection of Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Dance Tracks. Though not a Greatest Hits Collection like George's CD, "My Kind of World" may as well be. It contains enough potential Singles to keep it in the Charts for the next 2 years! Billboard in it's glowing review of the CD said that "Amber deserves a spot in the Mainstream!". Right beside George! My advice? Get BOTH The Best of George Michael and Amber - My Kind of World.
OK CD (2004-06-02) Sorry after the first 4 songs the album is a waste of money. All the rest are just boring copies of each other.
Pure Genius (2004-06-01) If you are a fan...you must have this collection. He is a true talent on just about any genre his vocals touch.
His best, and then some. (2004-04-14) When it comes to pop, "George Michael" is one of my favorites, and even though these 2 discs are great, I think 1 disc would have been excellent. I mean, up to this point, he did have only 3 albums out. It could have been a flawless 18 track disc. Anyway, more is better right. Disc 1 has the ballads like "Jesus To A Child", "Careless Whisper", "Father Figure", and "Praying For Time". Disc 2 has the upbeat tracks "Too Funky", "Freedom 90", "Monkey", and "Outside". Plus there's numerous covers and duets, and all pretty good. My only complaints, there's no "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", and the version of "I Want Your Sex" isn't the single version. Otherwise, this should be all the "George" the casual fan could want.
