the ultimate box set (2004-07-04)

I am typically not a big fan of box sets or greatest hits collections. This, however, is a must have for anyone who is interested Clapton or rock n' roll history. You don't just get Clapton on this. You get John Mayall, Cream, Bob Dylan etc. All the bands he's been in. It is revelation to see just how pervasive Clapton was as a guitar player. He's done it all and played in every style imaginable while still maintaining his signature sound. He shines on every track.This collection is well thought out and arranged. It does not simply exploit the greatest hits. There are many gems on here that you won't be able find anywhere else. Moreover, you get a real sense of his development as a musician and singer.

This set is just plain amazing. Every song here is a masterpiece and while most of them may not be very well known, each is great. For its price this set is a great value with over 70 songs. This truley displays clapton's genious and i recommend it for any fan of good music.

A Collection to Give You Many Hours of Musical Bliss (2004-05-19)

If you like Eric Clapton, then purchasing this is a no brainer. I've listened to it quite often, especially the first cd, which features Yardbirds, Mayall and Cream. Not only can you hear Clapton's style evolve, you hear the evolution of rock music as a whole. Yes, this is quite a short review, but I have no complaints to air out here. Everything is as it should be, so, take the plunge. You'll be glad you did.

"The Best Blues-Rock recordings around today" (2004-05-13)

I just pruchased this outstanding box set from Record and Tape Collectors in Towson ,MD and it is about the best early Blues type Rock ever recorded. After being told about the Album "Derek and the Dominos" over 30 years ago by a shipmate while I was sailing in the US Merchant Marines, I have not listened to it until I purchased this set 3 days ago! Boy, What have I been missing ! My friend told me "If you want to hear the best pure talented Rock then get Derek...",This set also has all the Clapton Classics. Back when these songs first came out and the whole nation was listening to Long Hair Modern Rock I was still enjoying Bill Monroe,Earnest Tubb,Spade Cooley and Elvis along with a lot of other Western Swing, Country and Rock-a-billy Artists (with Bob Will at the top of the list)! It has taken me many ,many years to apperciate SOME of the Rock music that made it big during the late 60's and early 70's but this is one set that I think is Tops! I still stick strongly to my roots but when something this good comes along you can't denie it ! "Enjoy, this set is worth it"

This is an awesome collection of Eric's work. There are songs from every part of his career up until 1988. There are even rare songs included from a-sides, b-sides. There are even unreleased songs from Derick and the Dominos, Blind Faith and his solo career. There are songs like cocaine, Lay down sally, promises, and Further up the road. Overall, this is a collection of hits and rare a and b sides, studio and live material. An absolute must for the Clapton fanatic.
