Fascinating read (2005-09-14) This book is excellent and punchy. I am not sure why only Naomi Klein is listed as author. Maybe Amazon has got it wrong. Four essays are gathered in NO WAR, the first one is by Naomi Klein. It is excellent and covers her visit to Baghdad when the US was still in triumphant mode and their objective for Iraq was clearest. In an almost casual way, she still gives one of the freshest and most penetrating analyses of the War. It is followed by excellent contributions from Bryan Mealer on the US army acting as Avon ladies, and by Susan Watkins on the puppet regimes installed in Iraq. If you are looking for a brief, crisp and comprehensive overview how it all went wrong, and why the anger runs so deep about the invasion of Iraq, read this book.
Don't bother! (2005-04-11) I saw Naomi Klein speak last month where she said she was working on a new book about Iraq that we could expect in about a year. I was suprised to see it here this early, especially since it's only 96 pages long! Turns out that this is not a new book at all -- her website says that it's just an article from Harper's magazine that has been published as a book without her consent (it's a long article, but 96 pages sounds like a stretch. The font size probably reads like a children's book). She says she has nothing to do with this book and encourages people to instead read the entire article for FREE on her website.
