Exposure Explained (2008-06-29) When I purchased this book, I was thrilled at how precise and easy to follow it was. As an amateur and self taught photographer, finding a GREAT book makes my day.. This one really did. Well worth a read.. I even bought a copy for my Doctor.
The best starting spot for Photography (2008-06-18) This is the first book I bought on Photography and I think is the best starting spot. I tried learning by reading on the net but I found it very confusing and never gave me the confidence to enter the manual mode of my camera. This book will make concepts very easy and it will encourage you take better exposures. Highly recommend it for beginners but if you are a seasoned professional then stay away from this one, I can't see much you'll learn by going through this book.
Great Read (2007-12-17) I just recently bought my first digital SLR camera and was researching for some good books to start me off on my path of learning and came across this one. The authors explanations are very easy to understand and his photo examples are fantastic. I would recommend this book to anyone who is start photography as a hobby or as a profession.
EXACTLY what I was looking for (2007-11-07) I highly recomend this boook to anyone who would like to gain more 'control' of their camera... Within the first 3 pages he shows you how to take your first MANUAL picture (if you haven't done so already) It is written very well; giving you all the technical information without just giving you lists of numbers to memorize. This book is a must for anyone who is looking to move beyond the AUTO or Program mode of their camera. I have purchased 3 other books trying to get the information I was given here. Having taken photography courses in the past, most of what is in the book is familiar to me but it is presented in such a way that I dont' find it repetative at all. It would equaly be easy to follow if you are compleatly new to f/stops, shutter speeds and ISO.
A MUST have !!! (2007-09-22) This is THE book, if you want to finally, and for all, fully understand how to use your camera in manual mode and knowledgeably make artistic decisions about f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO setting for each shot. As Mr. Peterson says, "Why not get the correct exposure in camera, instead of spending hours at the computer endlessly editing andd tweaking every shot?" I feel much more confident now that I have read this book, and I will now be using my camera as it was intended. The book is easy to read, and has some of the most beautiful illustrations along the way. It is well worth the modest price, and no serious photographer should be without a copy.
