A young Kurt Russell stars in this good-natured comedy. Steve Stone is an ambitious mailroom clerk at a third-rate television network when he stumbles onto the fact that his girlfriend's pet chimpanzee, Raffles, can pick ratings winners. Suddenly he's well on his way up the corporate ladder and getting his network to No. 1. Keeping Raffles and his abilities a secret provide the perfect setting for wacky, wicked comedy. The truly funny cast of Joe Flynn, Harry Morgan, Wally Cox, John Ritter, and others make up the executives and their cohorts. Not wanting to be made fools of, the executives try to save their dignity as well as their jobs by relocating Raffles. There's lots of physical comedy and downright silliness. Talk about monkey business! Released in 1971, this film can appear dated at times, but the story still holds up today. A likable, fun movie that harks back to a time of innocent mischief. Disney at its peak (2003-12-02)

There was a certain lame charm to Disney's live action movies of the 60's and 70's. Their movies nowadays are lacking it and aren't as enjoyable. Also the focus now is too much on the soundtrack. Kurt Russell plays a young man who discovers that girlfriend's chimp has the ability to watch only top rated shows. The pretty girlfriend played by Heather North has a nice presence. I'm surprised Disney didn't use her further but then she was later busy doing voice work for Daphne's Scooby Doo. By the end this movie became kind of stupid but it was a fun watch. Thirty minutes later I was still trying to get that annoying song out of my mind.

If a monkey could pick top rated movies this would be one of them. See a young Kurt Russell and John Ridder give an amusing performance. Now you see him now you don't, and The computer wore tennis shoes also highly reccomended.

One of the best (1999-12-29)

I remember watching this movie when I was young. A guy who attends night school comes up with these wild ideas to pitch to his girlfriend's boss (one of the NBC exec's) and his ideas are all wrong. That is, intil he discovered a chimp who can pick the top rated shows of the week. It's easy to laugh out loud when you're watching this movie, and it's one of the classics that entertain without the use of sex, drugs, swearing, any of the stuff used in hollywood today. Two thumbs up!

A Family Movie from Start to Finish!!!! (1999-07-11)

A very funny well made movie, Kurt Russell is really handsome and a great actor!!!! I really enjoyed this movie and I highly recommend it.

A must see for good, clean [original] Disney fun (1999-03-01)

This movie takes the cake when it comes to the classic Disney approach to humor and overall entertainment. An entralling, if somewhat antiquated, tale which, despite my initial skepticism, grew on me from start to finish. I would highly recommend this film to anyone wishing to challenge himself to enjoy something [unfortunately] unconventional.
