Best child actresses (2004-06-21)

Anna and Christina are two of the best child actresses I've ever seen act together. This movie symbolizes the meaning of true friendship. By the way, does anyone know when and if it will come out on DVD?

I rented this yesterday and this is the second time I've seen it the first time I've seen it was on TV on ABC and let me tell you this is one of my most favorite films I've ever seen I think Christina Ricci is great in this film you should buy this or rent it it's one of my favorites if you don't get this you'll regret it believe me it is one of the best films that you've seen!!..

Good entertainment (2000-07-16)

It was on Disney when I saw it, and I thought it to be good entertainment. There are 'things' that are wrong with it of course but if you can over look those on-site flaws, it's fine. It was one of the good ones but then I have to watch what is on broadcast TV; I don't do theaters. I would say the age range would be young, and grandparent age (mine) but anyone might like it. I was young once and so I enjoyed the partnership the two had in the version I saw.

Where are Mike Nelson and the robots when you need 'em? (1999-11-29)

When this movie first came out, I went on opening day because I had wanted, for a very long time, to see Anna Chlumsky and Christina Ricci star in a movie together. I didn't expect the movie itself to be good, I just wanted to see those two act together.

I wasn't disappointed on either account.

Gold Diggers in enjoyable for two reasons. Firstly, Chlumsky and Ricci were probably the two best young actresses in Holywood at the time. Every line, exchange, even nuance is filled with an honest and intelligent understanding of their roles and the story around them. Their chemistry is magnificent, and you can tell they had a blast in the production of the film.

Second, Gold Diggers, as a movie, is so laughably bad that it deserved the attention, and running commentary, of Mystery Science Theatre 3000. The plot is ridden with cliches, and the script itself is a nit-picker's goldmine. The story is easily predictable, the ending is all but given away by the opening voice-over, and the acting - other than Chlumsky and Ricci's - is as amusingly third-rate as the writing.

I wouldn't say this is a movie to buy, but by all means it is worth the rent when you're in the mood.
