A Classic (2003-11-04) Until I read "Dickens of the Mounted" I thought that Charles Dickens was a great writer but his son Francis has written a book so full of humour and pathos I found it impossible to put down. I laughed, I laughed some more, and I cried. Not only is this a wonderful time capsule of history but it is also a personal study in what it means to be the son or daughter of a celebrity. My greatest regret is that Francis did not take up a career in writing as this book certainly rivals anything that his father wrote. What Francis had over his father is a remarkable sense of humour even under the most trying of conditions. Why this book has not been re-released or better yet made into a Hollywood film I can only wonder. Perhaps it is time this book was put into the hands of someone who can bring this great work to light.
Unlikely hero - Real history (2001-03-20) An instant classic historical novel. This reads like a bizarre amalgam of The Diary of a Nobody and The Flashman papers. How can such a marvelous novel have fallen out of print? Learn about life in the North West Mounted Police and in the shadow of a famous relative as Dickens deadpans his way along the "medicine line". Reprint this book now!
