Terrific (2002-01-18)

I want a Jeeves!! Greatly entertaining understated humor. And, as always, Jeeves saves the day. Get them all.
Can't Get Enough Of Jeeves & Wooster (2001-07-24)

I strongly disagree with those that rate this series poorly compared to Sets 1 and 2 of Jeeves & Wooster. The truth is, you can't get enough of these two, and Fry and Laurie are perfect for the roles. P.G. Wodehouse could not have envisioned a more perfect set of actors to bring his characters to life.

And, what a wonderful set of oddballs, idiots and snobs for Jeeves & Wooster to interact with. You'll simply split your sides laughing at the messes Bertie seems to be magnetically drawn into. And, you'll marvel at how Jeeves seems to unravel each mess and always steer his bumbling master the way he wanted it in the first place.

If you have never read Wodehouse, or if you're a Wodehouse fanatic, you must see any and all of these comic masterpieces!

A sad follow up (2001-04-05)

This is exactly that. I very poor follow up to the other series. The humor is scant to none and the movies have been turned into hollywood representations that p.g. wodehouse would shudder at. The stories are less absurd and more fantastic and the characters chosen to act in this series (excepting wonderful stephen fry and hugh laurie) are poor excuses for actors. If it weren't for the slight resemblance to story lines of wodehouse's books, all would have been lost. (let me note also though, that the books the movies are patterned after, are not even jeeves stories at all but another collection of wodehouse stories.)
Laugh until you cry, then laugh some more! (2000-09-04)

Sadly the last of the Jeeves and Wooster adventures, this is nonetheless one of the funniest collections of it! You'll see Jeeves and Bertie do things that would never, ever occur to you.

"Return to New York" features Bertie fleeing back to New York to escape his aunt again--only to have her show up at his door with irresponsible, perpetual-joker cousins Claude and Eustace. Claude and Eustace, despite Aunt Agatha's declaration that they're going to South Africa, want to party in New York--and have both fallen in love with a singer. Unfortunately, Bertie and Jeeves must also deal with Tuppy's new (crazy) fiancee, who is offended by everything.

In "The Once and Future Ex" Bertie's musical friend George is in love with a particular hard-edged girl--Florence Craye's cousin. And even though Florence is engaged to the ghastly cop Stilton Cheesewright (yes, that is his name) Bertie ends up in the soup when Florence hands Stilton back his ring and announces that she's going to marry Bertie. There's a frantic scramble and near-miss before life will return to normal.

"Bridegroom Wanted" deals with Bertie's attempts to get Honoria Glossop safely married to a doctor--but he ends up engaged to her himself. His frantic attempts to escape will send him on a globe-crossing trip before he ends up safely in England once more.

"The Unwelcome Admirer" deals with Bertie growing a mustache, much to Jeeves's nausea. The mustache is the cause of renewed strife between Stilton and Florence--and when Stilton finds that Bertie took Florence to a "low garish nightclub." And when they go to the country, Jeeves must impersonate an American lady novelist to attract attention to Aunt Dahliap--and ends up attracting more than attention.

"Trouble at Totleigh Towers" returns to the lunatic fringe. Gussie Fink-Nottle, best friend of newts, is furious at fiancee Madeleine, who has forced him to become a vegetarian. But if he breaks off his engagement, then Bertie will end up marrying Madeleine, and Gussie will be picked apart with tweezers by Nazi-wannabe Roderick Spode. The ending is a peculiar twist, to say the least.

"The Ties That Bind" is the last episode, but it doesn't FEEL like the last. Bertie goes down to Totleigh Towers to ensure that Madeleine marries Spode. But Lady Florence Craye and her newest fiancee have showed up, and along the way Spode cancels the wedding. Unless Jeeves can force Spode to marry Madeleine, poor Bertie will face the fate that is worse than death--marriage to Miss "The Stars are God's Daisy Chain."

As usual, the actors are perfect! You'll get relaxed and amused when you watch these weird adventures, but you'll never be disappointed.

A second rate continuation of a first rate series (2000-08-09)

I've seen the Masterpiece Theatre box set, and loved it! This one is directed by Ferdinand Fairfax, and is not as good compared to the one directed by Robert Young. The main difference is the direction. Hugh Laurie and Steven Fry are good, as well as the few cast members who re-appear, but their performance gives away the poor performance of the director: they did a better job under the direction of Robert Young. The replacements for some of the characters are either bad actors or boring. In addition, you only get one show per tape rather than two shows per tape like the first and second seasons. I would encourage first-time viewers to first see the first two seasons directed by Robert Young.
