Perhaps the perfect children's bedtime book, Goodnight Moon is a short poem of goodnight wishes from a young rabbit preparing for--or attempting to postpone--his own slumber. He says goodnight to every object in sight and within earshot, including the "quiet old lady whispering hush." Clement Hurd's illustrations are simple and effective, alternating between small ink drawings and wide, brightly colored views of the little rabbit's room.
Finding all of the items mentioned throughout the book within the pictures is a good bedtime activity--a reappearing little mouse is particularly pesky. By the end of the little rabbit's goodnight poem, the story has quieted to a whisper, and the drawings have darkened with nightfall. As you turn the last page, you can expect a sleepy smile and at least a yawn or two. (Picture book)

A Must -have for the first library (2007-12-07) My Daughter loves this book!! The colourful illustrations are captivating. But mostly it is the melodic and soothing nature of the rhymes... it lulls her to sleep!
Reading for Me (2007-03-15) I love this book, have loved it since my neighbour bought it for my then two-year-old daughter.Since that time, I've read it over and over, as slowly as I possibly can, hoping that the words will last. There's something so calming about them that I always feel like I've received a warm hug once I'm done. I am then ready to go off to sleep and say goodnight to my daughter and the moon.Thank you, Ms Brown.Yours,Maggie Pagratis
Perfect Gift (2006-12-28) "Goodnight Moon" fulfills two very powerful needs to small children - to keep their mothers close to their sides as long as possible and to make closure on their day by telling each object goodnight. It is a poetic and soothing book helping babies and parents to calm down and go to bed. This charming story of a young rabbit's bedtime ritual invokes the kind of cozy quiet that invites the peaceful security of pleasant dreams. This book is a "must have" for any parent of a young child. Add to it books from the series Cats Are Rascals and you have a perfect Christmas package.
Puts her to sleep every time (2006-06-22) I have been reading this book before bed to my infant (now toddler) daughter for the past year. She still loves it and it puts her to sleep every time.
Read it forever (2006-03-14) This book is in my top 3 of kids books. So simple, I remember it as a child. Simply saying goodnight to everything is the room. Classic!!!
