My Favorite Book of all time (2008-10-13) All I have to say, is that I have read this book so many times, that I ended up buying the audio book, so I could listen to it before I went to sleep, the book is so beautiful and lovely and relaxing, I just can't say how much I just love it.
Once you start you can't stop (2008-10-10) My hairdresser told me to read this book and I'm glad she did, I find it hard these days to read anything around 2 kids & a husband but I just couldn't put this book down. I only finished the Twilight last night and I can't wait to start reading the next book... I'm hooked.
Will read New Moon (2008-10-05) I enjoyed "Twilight", definitely more for the vampire stuff, than the romance. My main annoyance with the book is that there is too much eye-gazing going on. But that isn't going to stop me from reading "New Moon".
Mediocre, but good enough to while away an afternoon (2008-09-24) I picked up this book because I like vampire novels and the cover was very well done. But despite all the gushing reviews and word of mouth in regards to this book, I wasn't overly impressed.Apart from the technical issues (poor plot pacing, awkward sentences, one dimensional characters) this book doesn't deserve the hype that it has received. It doesn't send out a good message, I thought, in making the heroine so weak and obsessed with a guy who keeps staring at her and watches her sleep. I think that's called stalking and is pretty illegal. It's not romantic. It's creepy. Not to mention the unfathomable reason an 108 year old would have for jonesing on a 17 year old. I was a 17 year old. I teach 17 year olds and despite a few moments of brilliance, the idea of someone so much older being obsessed with someone that young WITHOUT any real good reason is poor writing and holds no water. The characters had no real chemistry and didn't really stand out much. They were horribly generic, except for Jacob Black. He was the one realistic person in the entire book. I honestly glossed over the parts with Edward and I couldn't get a decent image of what Bella would be like. I understand that she is supposed to be a blank slate for the reader to insert themselves in, but the device failed. Would I recommend this book to a teenage girl? No. I would point them in the direction of the LJ Smith books, or Robin Mckinley or Annette Curtis Klause instead.
A nice lecture for those lonely nights (2008-09-16) I read the whole Twilight saga over the course of two weeks. I have to say that the first installment was superior to the following books though. Even though the book is aimed at a younger audience, I still could not put it down even though I am thirty one years old. I think that it is easy to relate to the main character, Bella. Haven't we all felt that we did not fit in. And, let's be honest, haven't we all dreamt of a mysterious love interest like Edward. Stephenie Meyer as an easy flowing style of writing. She gives just enough description when needed and does not shy away from the action. I would definitely recommend this book to all you girls out there in need of a dark love story to keep you up at night.
